Freeze Warnings?

It's been rainy, grey and gloomy. It was 70 degrees yesterday, and today it's in the thirties. The highs are in the forties and I think Houston is not sure what to do with it's self. The highways and so forth are flooded because of the rain, so it's a good thing that there was no school today! Now there is quite a panic over the 2-3 times a year when it drops below freezing. The main concerns are about icy roads and pipes freezing, and then bursting. It is actually really nice to have some cold weather!! After hanging out with my friend a few doors down, we took a little walk to put her daughter to sleep. When I got back here it was so great to have a hot cup of coffee to warm me up!! I LOVE IT!

However, Houston is quite concerned, and with good reason. We all got letters in our doors from the leasing office informing us to watch out for something known to a few as "black ice" - they were even so kind as to define it for those unfamiliar to cooler vocabulary. Also, this letter has made us aware of how to dress correctly and to wear boots or shoes to reduce slipping or falling (and maybe keep you warm?). The one other item of note was about pipes and the importance of keeping faucets drippings to prevent freezing. There are 5 bullets about this issue, leading one to believe this is quite an area of concern. I hope nothing too extreme happens, and am glad that we are with in walking distance to many places should the city go into cardiac arrest tomorrow... Some people at church are ready to stock up and stay in until Wednesday. Umm, we'll just have to see.

In the meantime, I'm plainly enjoying the opportunity to wear a coat and hat!

Yup. temps seems to want to be 70-80, but drop to 20...raise back up to 70...two days later back to 20. Just keep all your summer, spring, and winter clothes handy. :P
