"I think in terms of the day's resolutions, not the year's." ~Henry Moore

to be honest, i haven't made a new years resolution since grade school when it was part of an assignment, thus required. however, i was thinking of possible ones to make and here's what i can up with:

  • clear the dining room table EVERY NIGHT before going to bed (i can hear jd laughing now)
  • watch (be aware) of my posture, especially while sewing and working on little projects
  • donate my hair to locks of love again (this i can do soon)
  • use the fabric i have before getting more
  • drink more water
  • play guitar some more, haven't done that in a long time and miss it
  • be a more helpful wife/mom in the morning
  • learn how to do something with my hair
  • NOT to talk myself into trying to learn how to knit or crotchet, again
  • to sketch regularly - i think this is my favorite
  • to continue to be OK with the fact that i haven't woven a thing since the week before penny was born... i miss it, but an looking forward to weaving sooo much - some day
  • to keep up with my summer experiment of timing tasks, in hopes of continuing to motivate myself with daily cleaning, dinner prep, etc
  • try reading more non-fiction, maybe...
so i might pick a few, or not. maybe they'll just be some goals. any resolutions you've made and STUCK too??

Well, with the exception of this year, I'm don't know when the last time I made resolutions was. I'm doing well on this year's goals..you know, 4 days into the year:-).

i used to make resolutions, until i got smart and realized that they just fed into my bummed-out-ness of my many failures. and every january, i am painfully aware of all my failures, but yet, it is mingled somehow, in the fabric of january's vibe, with the hopefulness of better-ness. terrible grammar. ugh. but i like to think that spark is God-placed into all Men...

with that said: i too make lots of lists and have lots of goals! i love your list and again i'm laughing out loud with the familiarity of it all :)

facebook has helped me become aware that i need to watch my posture when i am around ANYbody or else i may find myself tagged as a haggard hunch. ugh!

what's wrong with wearing a bun/ponytail every day?

write down (make a list) of what would be necessary to get you weaving again. then consider it something to look forward to. time? space to think? i have a good friend who commented recently that she hasn't blown glass since her baby was born and she can't wait to get back into it. what do you need to do it? once a week? once a month? three whole days in a row?

per your non-fiction goal: i have an author who is one of my fav's and i think you would love her too. she is perfect for this stage in your life, and i had the luck to discover her long ago. she wanted to be a novelist but became famous for who she married and in the end, it was her diaries that were published, that made her mark in the literary world. She is Anne Morrow Lindbergh, (she married Charles Lindbergh)maybe not a household name, the books are old, but it is amazing--the similarity of our daily struggles-- a devoted wife and mother who also struggles to retain her creative self. if you go to the library, i will urge you to skip the first 2 (they are grouped chronologically) the first one being her courtship, the second one (hour of gold/hour of lead) is first happy:her marriage/then tragedy: their baby son was famously kidnapped and died in the handling. i do not advise you read that book right now. very depressing. the next three, though, are amazing: book three-- Locked rooms and open doors--she ditches her life to accompany her husband on his mapping expeditions around the world and doesn't just occupy seat space, she learns the radio, helps keep the daily logs, etc. in books 4 and 5 (the flower and the nettle, and War within and without) she is raising her family, writing some articles for magazine about their travels but longs to write books. the last one takes you up to world war II. sorry, this is long, i should have emailed it to you, but you get me thinking! i am having my coffee and i guess, this is my chat :)

i should probably go write my own list now :)
