It got chilly here in Houston! Our heat kicked on for the first time this season. Bright and early this morning, the lovely sound of the fire alarms were going off as the first firing up of the heaters produces a smokey smell. (This happens when your heater only goes off a few times a year...) It was rather nice that it went off this morning while JD was up and moving around, and not in the middle of the night. We've had it go in the middle of the night - it's scary waking up to smokey smells and fire alarms!!! But I'm totally enjoying it! Wearing socks, sweatshirts (from MN of course), and just having it feel winter-y. It hard to get into Christmas time spirit when it's 75 outside and my flowers are still growing and blooming. So, we welcome the weather and the 20 dollar trees that Ikea is selling again! We will go Wednesday as it's first come first serve, and maybe because it's the first day, we can get a small one. oh, so excited!!!!
Thanksgiving was nice, We spent most of the long weekend in and enjoyed it. JD grilled lamb which was so very yummy, and we still have one piece of pumpkin pie to share tonight. JD finished another version of a game to try playing and I made Penny a backpack, just her size to carry her things to nursery and such. There's no Velcro or zipper, so she can put things in and out herself, I might put a small magnet closure to keep it closed when there's things in it. But I'm not sure it's even needed.
