"Nobody realizes that some people expend tremendous energy merely to be normal" ~Albert Camus

Life is always interesting, and always takes energy. Slowly, my energy is returning!!! And it is a huge encouragement. (Thanks for prayers!) I can almost stay awake the whole morning until Penny's nap, and have been trying very hard to keep some order to your place - especially after JD and Sol worked so hard the other week in getting everything caught up to speed.

Bible Study started a few weeks ago, for which I am thankful. I admit to not doing the daily study every day, but to doing a few days at one time, the homework is good. What I needed was a push to stay in the Word, and this is helping. God's always working, even though I often am not. Even though growth is hard, it is good.

It was wonderful to have 3 cool days in Houston last week!! I believe the first day of autumn was when the short lived cool front started. They were preceded and followed by some relaxing and much needed days of rain. Last summer was so very rainy, that I've kinda missed it. I haven't worn my wellies or wind breaker nearly as much. Granted, this has made life easier with a one year old, but the rain is still appreciated. That being said, I am grateful for the low key hurricane season thus far!!! It has been over a year since hurricane Ike, and just 2 weeks ago our street sign was fixed! The blue tarps on many homes are still seen and I'm sure families are recovering in many ways.

So, in other random thoughts, I went grocery shopping today... it was a nice quick trip. I picked up some instant coffee for some baking recipes that always call for brewed coffee. Many times it is late a night, and a quick fix is needed. I figured I'd grab some instant grounds to have on hand and make the late game night "let's make some Texas brownies" a bit easier. I figured why not try a cup and see how it is. ICK!!!! totally gross!!! Did I make this stuff wrong??? Oh man is it bad... I'm kinda nervous to put it in any baked goods now... but we'll try it at least once, I guess.

Not to much as been going on. Just hanging at home and keeping up with Penelope. She is quite the joy to have around and makes the day go by fast. It's been hard to keep up with her play - tupperware in the living room, groceries in our bedroom, her playing in our laundry and emptying dresser drawers, shoes moved into the kitchen and so on. These happen fast enough that they are just going to happen, so we try to enjoy her playfulness and curiosity while encouraging her to put things away too. The book bin is emptied every single day, and her taste for new foods is getting much better, especially for meats and cheese. JD was trilled and very amused that she ate and even asked for more Branston's Pickle Relish stuff! (yuck!) She enjoys walking with me to get the mail and running around the courtyard collecting rocks and leaves, and the occasional sitting in mud.

Life is good and I'm glad I'm starting to feel better and can enjoy it more. This coffee has got to go... I really can't believe I just took another sip.
