“Like everyone else who makes the mistake of getting older, I begin each day with coffee and obituaries.” ~Bill Cosby

Um, well, I don't start my day with the obituaries, but I do start it with coffee. This morning I filled the kettle with water, got the french press ready and filled it with cold water. What was I thinking... Hot coffee is on it's way as I write.

The weather here is back on the up swing. After a weekend full of flooding rains, the sun has come back and I'm glad for it. Other than the normal goings on, a great visit was had with my folks over Easter (and my birthday!), Penelope is now 8 months old, has her two top teeth and loves to eat bananas! (JD was very alarmed that she didn't LOVE banana the first time, he is now much relieved.)

We have been enjoying our daily walks again, weather permitting, and the flowers and allergies are in full bloom. JD surprised me with an awesome red dutch oven for my birthday that I'm super excited to put to use. SO EXCITED!! I've been looking for enameled, reasonably priced dutch ovens on craigslist, ebay, esty, and at marshalls, macys, ikea, tjmaxx... and he finds a very affordable, and beautiful RED Lodge Dutch Oven at an outdoor shop! Would have never thought to look there, but it makes sense - cast iron and camping... so exciting - JD did good. (But he always does!) He's also encouraged my cooking habits and the meal plan. Okay, so he still ends up making (I mean rescuing) one meal a week, but it's been going well. Also this week he has been super helpful as Penelope is finally, FINALLY taking a bottle much better! However, feeding a bottle to the girl who is only still while sleeping is quite the task. What a wiggle worm we have, it is unreal and exhausting at times. She scoots everywhere and is so close to actual tummy off the ground crawling. She is a very happy little gal and plays really well on the floor. She especially enjoyed the dutch oven box, JD knows both his girls well! She knows how to push the box forward and walk to it, it's her little 'walker.'

Yum, hot coffee is so worth the wait!
